"Special" Toys

My friend, Corey S., gave us a GREAT idea to help Karisse deal with the transition from only child to big sister. Since I'll be nursing Callie, Karisse will probably think of everything imaginable that she needs me to do when I'm nursing. Corey suggested getting a basket of toys that were "special time" toys that Karisse can play with only when I'm nursing Callie, so she has special privledges too.

After we had our appointment with the surgeon this morning, we stopped by Dollar Tree to let Karisse pick out her special toys. We gave her 5 $1 bills to buy 5 toys.

She got to pick out which things she wanted. I thought she'd just start picking out everything she saw, but she seemed to need some direction. She's never been the kid who demands a toy or anything when we go to the store (except at Walmart...she knows she can get a cookie from the bakery ladies.)

After picking out her 5 toys, she said, "I pay," and reached into her dress pocket to get her $$. What a funny kid!!

She's quite in love with the baby she picked out. She also picked out clothes & diapers (for the baby), a My Little Pony (knock off), and a Dora ball. Now, the hard part is teaching her that these are special toys and can't be played with ALL of the time. Pray for us...

In other news, Callie should arrive around 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. YAY!!! When we told Karisse that Callie's coming out tomorrow, she said, "I hold her, kiss her." Aww...-
